President’s Report – Ute Philips

Lions Bay Arts Council – Now part of Sea to Sky Arts Councils Alliance  www.seatoskyarts.ca

This year has produced some exciting developments for our Arts Council.  We have have continued to work with Arts Councils along the Sea to Sky Corridor including Whistler, Pemberton, Squamish and Bowen Island and have formed the Sea to Sky Arts Councils Alliance, www.seatoskyarts.ca . Our Lions Bay artists and residents will be able to access arts and culture events happening throughout the year in our Sea to Sky area and we are very excited to be involved in this project.

Our Arts and Garden Festival in May was again very well attended and of course the weather cooperated once again.

Our second annual Christmas Fair saw 21 artists and artisans participating. From Christmas wreaths to books by Lions Bay authors to chocolate and apple pies to spices and everything nice. We loook forward to next year’s Fair on November 20th, 2016.  We would love to hear from any and all artists, performers and artisans who might be interested in participating.  info@lionsbayartscouncil.org

As we are now able to support artists through access to funding, we continue to encourage artists to come forward and become members and be included on our artist’s registry.  We feature member artists on our website under the Artists Gallery and with our inclusion in the Sea to Sky Arts Councils Alliance, artists will now have exposure throughout the Sea to Sky Corridor and beyond.  If you are an artist (this of course is inclusive of all the arts) please contact us at info@lionsbayartscouncil.org   Let us know how we can support you in your artistic endeavors.

We are extremely grateful for the continuing support of Village Council who provide essential funding for the Banner Contest, the annual community events signage, the Public Art and Design projects and core funding for the Arts Council itself.
