Social Impact Measurement

Publicly funded arts play an important role in Irish society, for people, artists, audiences, and communities. The production of diverse artistic experiences are a key part of what makes life exciting and culturally vibrant in Ireland.

Impact measurement can have significant benefits for organisations. It can provide a better understanding of working processes and methods across an organisation, and provide clarity on the changes to people’s lives and potential ways that services can be improved.

Outcome Measurement Guidebook

A shared approach to measuring the impact of public investment in the arts at a local level.

The Outcome Measurement Guidebook for Local Authority Arts Services & Arts Organisations was developed in response to the commitment made by the Arts Council in our ten-year strategy Making Great Art Work and in our agreement with the County and City Management Association, A Framework for Collaboration.

This outcome measurement resource helps arts organisations to:

  • explore the benefit of the arts
  • better understand the significance of their work
  • learn new approaches
  • evidence ways that the arts have made an impact in people’s lives.
